The weekend’s BTCC event saw a support calendar that included the opportunity to see MSA Formula 2016 at Donington Park, as the FIA Formula Four event included three races. I’m a big fan of Formula Four as there is normally high quality and close racing making for an exciting watch. This weekend was no different.…
Last weekend saw the second race outing for the British Touring Car Championship as we saw the class of BTCC 2016 at Donington Park. The series was there with its normal support races including MSA Formula, the Ginetta series, and the Clio Cup. Saturday was best described as a changeable day at the…
Yesterday saw the BTCC Media Launch 2016 at Donington Park, with the teams and drivers on display not just for the media but fans who made their way along to the Leicestershire circuit. I popped along to see what was going on, and it was a busy event with a long queue to get in…
Donington Park is home to many forms of entertainment, and although it may be most famous for its circuit and the home of many impressive rock concerts, it has held rally events in the past, and after a hiatus of several years, this form of motorsport returned in late 2015 as the Dukeries Rally returned…
I had just taken junction 11 from the M42 earlier this week when I passed this rather cool vehicle on the road into the village of Measham in Leicestershire. I’ve passed this a few times in the area recently, but this time got quite a good view on my dashcam. I’ve no idea what sort…
It’s November, and as the nights get longer and the sun sets earlier, the motor racing season in this part of the world draws to an end for the winter, and after many trips this year, I headed off to Donington Park yesterday for the last race meeting of the year, the BRSCC Winter Raceday 2015.…
Last Saturday and Sunday saw the BRSCC Finals Weekend 2015 when a number of the championships for the series organised by the British Racing & Sports Car Club came to an end. There were Finals events at both Silverstone and Donington, given the large number of series, and I went along to see the Donington…
Last weekend’s British GT event included an appearance for Formula Jedi 2015 at Donington Park. The exciting single seater series was one of a number of support races, and included two races over the course of the weekend. This year’s season has three clear title contenders, in Ben Hingeley, Lee Morgan and Michael Watton, who between…
This weekend saw the BRDC F4 2015 at Donington Park as the Formula Four series supported the British GT decider round. Although this was the final race meeting for the GT series, the BRDC F4 teams have another outing in two weeks at Brands Hatch. Last year saw a series of six drivers who could…
Today sees the end of the 2015 Heather Scarecrow Festival, so I went along yesterday to look at this year’s collection of displays. For those not familiar with the event, the villagers of Heather in North West Leicestershire fill their gardens with homemade scarecrows, whilst visitors can go on a hunt for them around the…
Today saw the 360 Motor Racing Club at Donington Park, so I went along to see some of the action. The main action was two three hour endurance sessions, the sort of races that are quite rare. Today saw the Endurance Racing Series three hour race, followed by the 360 Allcomers Series, the other three hour…
I’m a regular at my local village festival, and after writing about the 2013 and 2014 events, I went along last Saturday to the Heart of the Forest Festival 2015 to see what was going on. The festival takes place in the Leicestershire village of Measham in the middle of the National Forest, hence the…
