BRSCC Finals Weekend 2015

Last Saturday and Sunday saw the BRSCC Finals Weekend 2015 when a number of the championships for the series organised by the British Racing & Sports Car Club came to an end.  There were Finals events at both Silverstone and Donington, given the large number of series, and I went along to see the Donington races. The bill saw the inclusion of the HRDC All Stars, the Mighty Minis, the Excool OSS Trophy, several MX5 series, and other categories.  The BRSCC events usually include great displays of racing, and this weekend was no different, and it was good to see plenty of people at Donington Park to watch the events.

The Excool OSS – Open Sportscar Series – has seen Duncan Williams on fine form this year, with a new lap record at Brands Hatch in August.  He continued in the same form at Donington, with the lap record falling again, as Duncan lapped every other driver.  It was a stunning display and a great way to finish the season.  The Excool OSS is a fantastic series, one of those great, underrated racing championships.  Watch out for it in 2016!

The Mighty Minis are always a great series to watch, with plenty of cars giving no shortage of close racing, and this year was of course no different.  There was plenty of jostling for position through the races, with action throughout the field for the duration, before Liam Sullivan crossed the line and took the chequered flag.  The final result for the series needs some disputes to be resolved and the points to be updated accordingly, but this was really one of the highlights of the weekend.

The weekend also included plenty of other racing series based on a particular car manufacturer or model, including a number of Mazda MX5 series, the VTEC challenge, and the Smart Car series,  Smart4You.

I am already looking forward to the BRSCC series returning next year – there are a few more events left in 2015, but the season is coming to an end – and in the meantime, here are some photos from last weekend.
