Radical Racing 2017 Donington Event

This weekend’s MSVR Donington event includes, among other series, the inaugural rounds of the new LMP3 Cup, the F3 Cup and the Radical Racing 2017 Donington Event.  Radical Racing is a relatively cost effective racing series, with the cars based on a motorbike engine, which helps to ensure busy grids and plenty of close racing.  This weekend at Donington was no different, with overtaking through the field from the start of the race.  Bradley Smith set the fastest time in qualifying and took pole from Oliver Barker, on a thirty three car grid for the first of the three races, all of which are held on Saturday.  The race two grid is decided on the second fastest time, and it was the same two drivers who occupied the top two spots.

Bradley Smith was having a good weekend when he added the first race win and fastest lap to his two poles, and it was Oliver Barker who claimed second place ahead of Steve Burgess.  Smith’s good form continued with a win in the second race, and another fastest lap, with Harry Cockill taking second and Steve Burgess completing the podium.

The final race of the day, and the seventh of the event, saw the cars starting in the order that they finished the previous race with Smith yet again starting at the front, although his luck ended in this race, with Smith out after six laps, leaving Oliver Barker to take the win from Steve Burgess and Jack Lang.  Burgess also took the fastest lap.
