George Russell was born in Norfolk in 1998, and took up karting in 2006, and soon made a name for himself, taking the championship title before becoming the 2012 Super One British champion. He then moved to KF3 where he took the European title in 2011 and 2012, before moving to the world championships in 2013.
In 2014, George raced in the BRDC British F4 championship, later to become British F3, and in what was a very exciting season that went down to the last race at Snetterton, George took the title. It was a busy year for George, as he also raced in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Series and won of the two races he entered in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 that year.
George moved on to the FIA European F3 championship in 2015 and took third in the championship in 2016 before moving to the GP3 series for 2017, as well as being a test driver for the Force India Formula One team. George took the GP3 title and moved to the FIA Formula 2 series for 2018, where he added another championship trophy to his collection.
He was announced as a driver for the Williams Formula One team for 2019. George is one of two new British drivers for the series, alongside Lando Norris, and it seems that there is a change in order in Formula One with some new talent making their way into the top tier of motorsport. 2019 looks like it will be an interesting series with drivers like George out to prove themselves.
