F3 Cup 2017

F3 Cup Donington Round April 2017

The current MSVR weekend includes the F3 Cup Donington Round April 2017, the first of seven weekends for the series around the country. This weekend’s event includes various other championships such as the inaugural and exciting LMP3 Cup for and Radical racing.

The F3 Cup is made up of consists of three classes; the Cup Class (cars built after 2005), Trophy Class (1981-2004), and F3 Open (post 1999 running stock 2000cc engines),  as well as the opportunity for invitation competitors.  All of the various classes compete together on the same grid.  There were fifteen cars on the grid for today’s event, and the race this afternoon was close and competitive from the off. That said, it was Shane Kelly who took pole in qualifying this morning and led from the start right through to taking the chequered flag, but other places were swapping hands. Jacopo Sebastiani made the best of his third place on the grid and converted it to second place in the race, with the third step of the podium going to Robbie Watts who had started fourth.

There are two more races for the F3 Cup on Sunday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
