Nico Rosberg in Free Practice 3 for the 2013 British Grand Prix

Free Practice Three for the 2013 British Grand Prix

Free Practice Three for the 2013 British Grand Prix was, as normal, on Saturday morning before qualifying, and I watched the session from Abbey, where spectators can watch the cars exit the pit lanes and reach the end of the International Pit Straight, where after the high speed section, there is a quick deceleration through the curves.

Saturday was certainly a busier day as always than Friday at the Grand Prix, with the excitement building for qualifying later in the day.  There already had been some action on the track, with the GP2 and GP3 cars having been out, but Free Practice Three was the first of the two Formula One events of the day.

Sitting in Abbey allows spectators to watch drivers practice their starts at the end of the pit lane, and also allows those watching to see just how quickly the cars accelerate once they have left the speed restricted section of the pit lane.

There was plenty of action on the circuit through the session, and I managed to take a few photos of the cars.
