BTCC 2015 at Rockingham

Last weekend I went to watch BTCC 2015 at Rockingham, enjoying the lovely sunshine of a September weekend whilst watching the touring car action. The day was made even better for us by participating in the grid walk before the race and having a look at the cars up close as they were setting up.

There were, as normal, three races over the weekend, with Mat Jackson starting the first from pole, and managed to stay ahead of the rest of the field, which featured no shortage of incidents, to the chequered flag, claiming the first BTCC win of the weekend.

The second BTCC race of the day had a similar theme with one driver leading from start to finish, but this time it was Gordon Shedden, with Mat Jackson joining him on the podium on the second step this time. The Honda garage was, of course, filled with excitement.

The final race of the weekend was particularly exciting. Tom Ingram started on pole, but spent several laps fighting off Jason Plato, who finally managed to pass him and to take the win.

We watched as Jack Goff pitted in the third race with a car filled with smoke. Thankfully, it soon dissipated and he continued to race.

As well as the current crop of BTCC drivers, the spectators were treated to a Historic Touring Car race, with cars from the relatively recent past competing.
