Today’s commute

Today was one of those bad traffic days, when it’s important to remember that much as the delays due to traffic are irritating, it’s still much better than being one of the poor people who have had an accident that caused the traffic to stop running smoothly in the first place. Of course, the delays normally cause frustration as tempers fray, and today was no different. As I was driving down the M42, I got to the part where it merges with the M6 Toll road, and the cars and other vehicles took turns merging as the two motorways became one.

A lorry, branded as Landrover, decided though that it was not going to merge at the same place as everyone else, and drove by that to the front of the queue. The drivers in the next lane, most of whom had come from the same lane as the lorry, didn’t seem to want to let the lorry in, but the driver equally didn’t seem to want to take no for an answer. He kept coming, as you can see from the video below from my dashcam, and thankfully the other cars on the road got out of the way to avoid an accident. I followed their lead, trying to make sure I kept as far away from the lorry as I could…

Meanwhile, you get the chance to listen to the Today programme on Radio 4 from my car…
