You may be aware that I do like a pun or two, and it seems that I am not alone in that. The Local Data Company have recently ran a competition to find the country’s best pun in a shop name. I thought that the Belfast restaurant Thai Tanic might make an appearance, but it was not there, and neither was Internet favourite Sell Fridges. The winner was Chesterfield’s Junk and Disorderly, a second-hand shop on Market Street in the Derbyshire town, run by Pete Yates. His pun has ensured a £100 prize goes to his chosen charity of Prostrate Cancer UK.
The other shops that make up the top ten are:
2. Pane In The Glass, Ashford
3. Barber Blacksheep, Brighton
5. World Of Woolcraft, Gillingham
7. Heaven Scent, London
9. Pawchester Cat Hotel, London
I have added links to most of them so that you can see them in all – or at least some – of their glory. Well done to them all. Great punning all round… So look out for the UK’s Best Shop Pun next year…
