Pomeroy Trophy 2017 at Silverstone

VSCC Pomeroy Trophy 2017

The motor racing season is starting to gear up again and among the test sessions at circuits across the UK – and around the world – at the moment, there are some races already taking place. Today saw the VSCC Pomeroy Trophy 2017 at Silverstone, a completion that has been held since 1952 and rather than just a race of speed is a series of tests including the handling, acceleration and braking tests, all whilst making sure that the cars can carry the two regulation suitcases. The competition sees various cars taking part, from the early days of motor sport to the relatively modern, and is organised by the VSCC or Vintage Sports-Car Club.

Not only did the event see an open Silverstone with great access, it was free for those who wanted to attend, leaving no excuse not to go and see the action. The Pom is unusual due to being able to see so many different vehicles from various times competing together, and a trip around the garages provides an opportunity to see some fantastic vehicles.

It is also quite a sight to see the various competitors going to and coming from their time on track.

There were some truly old vehicles to be seen today, but one of the really notable points was the great variation in age of the cars.

A really good event, and great to be back at Silverstone to see some racing. Here are a few photos.
