NGRRC at Donington Park, May 2016

NGRRC at Donington Park

I spent today (Saturday) watching on track action by the NGRRC at Donington Park in the glorious May sunshine.  The NG Road Racing Club started life as the North Gloucestershire Road Racing Club back in 1970 with a first race meeting at Gaydon in 1971.  The club has grown since, and this weekend sees plenty of action on motorbikes and with sidecar racing at Donington.  Most of today saw the Leicestershire circuit in lovely sunshine, a far cry from the weather at the beginning of the week for the Donington Historic Festival, but later in the afternoon, the skies quickly changed colour and a  sudden downpour made the on track racing somewhat different to earlier in the day.

The weekend has races all through the day and into the early evening, and as well as the action on the track, there is plenty off track too, with the various competitors in open pits and lots of stalls selling interesting items related to the weekend.  You can come home with a nice set of racing leathers as well as having had a great day watching the action on track, should you be tempted.

Of course, Donington is a popular track with bikers, and the end of the month will see plenty more there when it hosts the UK round of the World Superbikes.  In the meantime, here are a few photos from the NG Road Racing Club today.
