The British GT trip to Leicestershire last weekend included the Mini Challenge JCW Donington Rounds 2017 as the finale of that series, although with Brett Smith already having taken the title as well as driving in the BTCC for half the season, this was not the deciding round like it was for so many of the events on the same bill. Qualifying saw Smith take pole from Rob Smith, and David Grady in third. The first race had plenty of action, although it did finish in the same order as it started for the podium, further extending Smith’s lead of Reece Barr who took fourth place.
Sunday’s second race had Barr on pole from Grady, followed by Rob and Brett Smith. However, it was to be yet another win for Brett Smith, with Rob Smith second and Grady and Barr in third and fourth. That’s six of eighteen wins for Smith, and thirteen podiums. Impressive stuff.
