The British Grand Prix saw the fifth round of the 2014 GP2 series, with the usual configuration of a feature race and a sprint race. There were changeable conditions over the weekend, and one of the things that was probably less visible to those watching on TV was how windy the track was at times. This meant for an interesting outing for GP2 at Silverstone 2014.
Practice and qualifying happened on Friday, with the Racing Engineering car of Raffaele Marciello taking pole from Jolyon Palmer’s DAMS and Mitch Evan’s Russian Time car in third place. Raffaele had been fastest in practice too, so he did seem to be in good form on Friday. The feature race on Saturday saw plenty of action, with a win for Mitch Evans in the Russian Time car, followed by Jolyon Palmer and Stoffel Vandoorne.
Mitch was not able to repeat the feat on Sunday, with a seventh place finish, ahead of a win by Carlin’s Felipe Nasr, who finished ahead of Stefano Coletti in second and Johnny Cecotto in third. The race was again not without incident, with the Racing Engineering car of Raffaele Marciello stopping in front of us, with us watching as he got out of the car to be taken back to the pits.
I took a few photos of the various GP2 events over the weekend, I hope that you like them.
