The Ginetta Junior Rockingham Event 2017 was of course part of the British Touring Car Championship weekend. There was a big change this weekend, with JHR Developments being excluded by Ginetta from the championship meaning that their drivers have needed to find a new team for the weekend. This includes the two drivers at the top of the table, Sebastian Priaulx, who moves to HHC Motorsport, and Tom Gamble, now of Elite Motorsport.
The weekend also sees Emily Linscott join the championship, and Emily will be racing at Silverstone and Brands Hatch. Qualifying saw Daniel Harper take pole from Priaulx, ahead of Jordan Collard. The race went to Harper, ahead of Priaulx, and Tom Gamble third after a penalty. Race two saw another pile for Harper, this time with Harry King in second ahead of Gamble. This time, it was Gamble’s race, and he was joined on the podium by Harper and Priaulx.
These three drivers then had the top three spots for the third race of the weekend. This time, Harper passed Gamble and took the win, with Priaulx. The results see some movement in the championship, with Gamble now having a narrow lead over Priaulx, and Harper in third. It’s very tight, with sixteen points separating the three, and a race win gives thirty points. It will be a very exciting last few races.
