A gallery of Kevin Magnussen photos - The Musings of Mark Haggan

Kevin Magnussen entered Formula One in 2014 with the McLaren team, after a rapid rise through the levels of motor sport. He is the son of former Formula One driver Jan Magnussen, who is himself still racing in various Formulae.

A successful series of Formula Ford in 2008 saw Kevin crowned as Formula Ford Denmark champion, as well as competing in other forms of the series, before a move to Formula Renault 2.0 in 2009, where I first saw him race at Silverstone, although without taking any photos of him. 2010 saw his career continue to develop, into Formula Three where he came third in German Formula Three, followed by a second place in British Formula Three in 2011. Kevin also competed in the Macau Grand Prix – a Formula Three race – in 2011, before back to the world of Renault racing in 2012, this time in the Formula Renault 3.5 series. He stayed there in 2013 and won the series, with five wins and eight pole positions, before being picked up by McLaren and joining their Formula One team in 2014, as team mate to veteran driver Jenson Button.

I somehow seemed to have managed not to take photos of Kevin at the various events where I had seen him race, including in Winter Testing for 2014 through not being there on the same days as him. However, that was rectified at Silverstone and Hockenheim in 2014, where I managed to get my first few photos of him, both in his car and in the paddock. I hope you like them.

Kevin moves to be the test driver for McLaren in 2015, as Fernando Alonso joins the team. However, an accident involving Fernando at Winter Testing saw Kevin back in the driver’s seat for the last Winter Testing session, and for the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. In early 2016, Kevin was announced as a race driver for Renault, replacing Pastor Maldonado. At the end of the season, Haas announced that Kevin had signed for them for 2017, where he remained through 2018 and into 2019.
