It appears that there are connections to the Lotus F1, or formerly, Toleman team everywhere at the moment. I wrote recently about a trip to see Lotus F1 earlier in the week, and I had previously mentioned the 1984 Toleman that was in reception at The Donington Collection in Donington Park, which had been Ayrton Senna’s first Formula One car. I just happened to be there again at 1pm today when Senna’s Toleman started another journey.
I was having lunch with Mike as we watched the Toleman that had witnessed the arrival of a legend into the sport make a less celebrated exit through the door of the Donington Collection, down the footpath, and into a waiting van. It was interesting to watch the car manage to make it through the narrow doorway, with plenty of attention from the chaps moving it, and away from the building.
As the sign says, “Donington Grand Prix Collection. Thank you for visiting. Please drive carefully”. I could not have put it better.
I do hope that we get to see it again very soon.
