Excool OSS Rockingham 2017

Excool BRSCC OSS Championship Rockingham 2017

The BRSCC event this weekend saw the Excool BRSCC OSS Championship Rockingham 2017 round, with the sun shining brightly in the sky for the hottest weekend of the year so far. This is one of the five weekend outings for the Excool OSS championship, or open sports series, with various marques racing across the eight categories that make up the series.  The racing is always fast and close in OSS, definitely worth a watch for those who are not familiar with it.

Mike Jenvey took both pole positions in qualifying, setting the fastest lap and the quickest second fastest lap (if you follow), with Richard Wise and Mark Abbott in second and third for each race.  In the first race, Jenvey kept the lead and took the chequered flag, with Jon-Paul Ivey and Lee Torrie joining him on the podium, both in Radicals and Jenvey in his Jenvey-Gunn TS6.  As you can no doubt tell from the name, Jenvey has been involved in the development of the car, and is a previous OSS series champion.

The second race of the day saw another win for Jenvey, this time with Wise in second place and Ivey again on the podium.  It was also a second fastest lap for Jenvey, who was having a day as good as the weather.   As this result provided the third grid of the weekend, it was a trio of poles for Jenvey, which he converted to a trio of wins, with Wise and Ivey again joining him on the podium.

The series has its next meeting at Snetterton in July, before supporting the British GT round at Donington in September, and then finishing at Silverstone in October, this time on the International Circuit after an opening weekend in May on the National Circuit.

Meanwhile, here are some photos from today.
