Felipe Nasr comes from a motor racing background, with his uncle, Amir Nasr, running a South American Formula Three team, which bears his name.  He moved into karting at the age of seven in his native Brazil, before a move to Formula BMW Americas in 2008.  2009 saw a move to the European Formula BMW series, before a move into British Formula Three in 2010, where he finished in fifth position.  He remained in the series in 2011, before a move to GP2 in 2012 racing for the DAMS team where he raced alongside Davide Valsecchi.  He moved to the Carlin team for 2013, which saw a fourth place in the championship, and his services being retained for 2014, when he was also the reserve driver for the Williams F1 team, which saw him featuring in Free Practice at five Grand Prix weekends, including Brazil. Given that the Williams team features Felipe Massa in 2014, there must have been some interesting and confusing radio conversations through some of those sessions!

 

At the end of the 2014 season, the Sauber team announced that Felipe Nasr would be driving for them in Formula One in 2015, alongside Marcus Ericsson, which saw his debut as a Formula One driver. He retained the seat for 2016, but did not keep a Formula One drive for 2017.
