BRSCC Fiesta Championship 2016 at Silverstone

This weekend saw the BRSCC Fiesta Championship 2016 at Silverstone as part of the BRSCC St George’s Day weekend event. The racing was taking place on the international circuit with the teams based in the International Pits, part of the Wing complex, which provide great facilities for both competitors and spectators. Of course, as normal, the Fiesta Championship also provided a great weekend for those there to watch.

The championship, sponsored by Quaife, got under way with a practice session that saw Aaron Thompson top the times ahead of Jamie Going. In qualifying, however, it was Samuel Priest who took the fastest time, with Jamie in third behind Nick Sanderson at the front of the impressive 36 car grid.

The weekend saw two races for the championship, and the first of the two saw Simon Horrobin take the top step of the podium ahead of Jamie Going and Samuel Priest in an exciting race on Sunday morning.

Later on Sunday afternoon, the cars returned to the grid for the second race of the weekend for the series. There was an early safety car, which once cleared, saw Samuel Priest and Jamie Going spend most of the race fighting for the lead in an exciting battle, with plenty more close racing through the pack. However, on lap 12 of 13, Aaron Thompson, who joined the series this year as the reigning Fiesta Junior champion and who started the race in 13th position, took the lead and held on to the end. Meanwhile, in the Class D race, Jessica King took her first win, finishing ahead of some of the Class C cars.

Another exciting weekend of Fiesta racing, with plenty more to come this season. Here are a few photos.
