British F4 Snetterton 2018

British F4 Snetterton Rounds 2018

After a few weeks of a summer break, the British F4 Snetterton Rounds 2018 saw the drivers start the second half of their season, and the weekend saw a return of the rain as well as racing as the BTCC and support races got back to the action.

Qualifying saw Patrik Pasma top the times, but as he was carrying a ten place grid penalty from Croft, Ayrton Simmons took pole, with Dennis Hauger and Kiern Jewiss next in the times. The second fastest times, also used for grids, saw Pasma, Jewiss and Simmons lead the pack.

The first race on Saturday saw Hauger pass Simmons and take his fourth win of the year, with Sebastian Priaulx ahead of Simmons making up the podium.

The second race, also on Saturday, saw Sebastian Alvarez on pole from team mate Paavo Tonteri. Tonteri quickly passed Alvarez, and was soon being chased down by Priaulx and Simmons. Tonteri managed to hold on to take the win, and it was Priaulx and Simmons who joined him on the podium, with Tonteri taking his first win in the championship.

Sunday felt a very different day from Saturday, with cooler temperatures, and the day starting with lots of rain, a rare sight in the UK over the previous few weeks. By the time the British F4 drivers took to the track, the rain had stopped but the track was still damp, and the drivers took their chances on slicks. There was plenty of overtaking through the race including at the front, and it was Jack Doohan who took the win from his team mate Hauger, with Tonteri joining them for an all-rookie podium. Further down the field, there were some other good results, with Jamie Sharp getting his first double points finish since Donington, and a double points finish for Lucca Allen equaling his best ever result with an eighth place.

The teams are back on track in two weeks at Rockingham, meanwhile, here are some photos from the British F4 Snetterton Rounds 2018.
