British F4 Snetterton Rounds 2017

The British F4 Snetterton Rounds 2017 were held last weekend as part of the BTCC event at the Norfolk circuit. The teams and drivers have had a break since Croft, and Snetterton marks the beginning of the second half of the season. There was plenty of change, with a series of new drivers arriving for Snetterton. Alexandra Mohnhaupt returned to British F4, and Johnathan Hoggard, Sam Smelt and Lucca Allen all joined the series.

The first race of the weekend on the Saturday saw Oscar Piastri on pole, but he had to settle for the second step of the podium in the race as Linus Lundqvist took the win, and Logan Sargeant joined them on the podium.

The second race of the weekend on Sunday had plenty of excitement, and this time the victory went to Alex Quinn, with Piastri taking another second place, and Sargeant again in third.

The final race saw Lundqvist add to his tally of wins, ahead of Quinn and Piasrti. The championship leader, Jamie Caroline, scored a 4th, a 7th and a 5th place finish, and continues to lead the table, although the weekend’s results see Piastri, Lundqvist and Quinn in second, third and fourth, getting a little closer to Caroline who had looked to be building up a huge lead earlier in the season.

The series now heads north of the border to Knockhill, which should also see the race that was cancelled at Oulton Park due to barrier repair work. It looks like there is still plenty of competition in what is always an exciting and often unpredictable series.
