British F4 Rockingham 2018

British F4 Rockingham Rounds 2018

This weekend saw the British F4 Rockingham Rounds 2018 as part of the BTCC package at the Northamptonshire circuit. Patrik Pasma showed the same form in qualifying as he had done two weeks before at Snetterton, managing to top both the fastest lap and the second fastest lap tables in qualifying to give him the best possible chance with a double pole. Behind him, Jack Doohan and Kiern Jewiss also continued their recent good form with a second and third in the fastest lap times, with the two drivers swapped for the second fastest laps.

The first race saw Pasma complete a flag to flag win, scoring his debut first place in the championship.  His Arden team mates Doohan and Dennis Hauger joined him on the podium, with Ayrton Simmons in fourth and Jewiss in fifth.

The racing continued on Sunday, in changeable conditions, with rain overnight and showers on and off through the day. The second British F4 race of the weekend saw Jonathan Hoggard claim the win from Jewiss with Doohan in third place. In the final race at Rockingham, it was Pasma who returned to the top of the podium, joined this time by Seb Priaulx in second and Jewiss in third.

The teams head north of the border in two weeks to Knockhill, which always provides fantastic racing, and it is Jewiss who leads the table from the very consistent Ayrton Simmons, with Dennis Hauger in third place. In the rookie cup, Doohan leads his Arden team mate Hauger. There are nine races left this year, with three at Silverstone and three at Brands Hatch after the Knockhill rounds, so not long left to wait to work out who will be the British F4 champion 2018.

In the meantime, here are a few photos from the weekend’s action at Rockingham.
