BRDC British F3 Donington 2017

British F3 Donington Park Rounds 2017

The British GT Donington Decider weekend included the British F3 Donington Park Rounds 2017, although given Enaam Ahmed’s performance this year, the title had already been decided. That, as always with British F3, did not stop the event to have plenty of exciting racing.

Ben Hingeley took pole in qualifying, ahead of Ahmed, with Chase Owen in third. The first race saw Hingeley and Ahmed hold their places, with Cameron Das taking the third step on the podium.

The second race saw Nicolai Kjaergaard lead from the start until the last lap when Callum O’Keefe made contact at Redgate, which meant a win for Jordan Cane from Owen with James Pull in third. That guaranteed Pull second place in the championship.

The third and final race of the weekend, and the last race of the year for the series, saw Cameron Das on pole from Ahmed and Owen. However, it was Ahmed to took the win from Cane with Alex Quinn, who had made the move from British F4 for the weekend to replace Toby Sowery who was racing in China over the weekend. Given his dominance over the series, it seemed appropriate for Ahmed to be standing on the top step of the podium after the last race. I’m sure he will be going on to even bigger things.
