GP3 at the 2016 British Grand Prix

British Grand Prix 2016 GP3 events

As Silverstone played host to the Formula One circus at the weekend, the usual British Grand Prix 2016 GP3 events provided some of the support races. As the series is used as a feeder for some of the Formula One teams, it was no surprise to see some of the participants taking part in other events over the weekend, with Charles Leclerc testing in F1 on Friday, and some of the drivers staying for F1 testing the following week as they continue to make their names in the sport.

The feature race saw a clean sweep for ART Grand Prix’s Alexander Albon – son of former BTCC driver Nigel Albon – taking pole, fastest lap and the race win. Charles Leclerc and Antonio Fuoco joined him on the podium.

Sunday’s sprint race saw a win for Antonio Fuoco with Charles Leclerc back on the podium, this time in third, and Álex Palou in second place. Overall, that hands the championship lead to Charles Leclerc by two points from Alex Albon.

I have posted some photos of the other events of the weekend, including Formula One, GP2, the RAF Falcons, the Typhoon air display, and the Red Arrows. Meanwhile, here are my photos from the GP3 events.
