A Baby in a Caterpillar P5000 Powerloader…

This one might only be for fans of the film Aliens.  As the titles says, here is a baby in a Caterpillar P5000 Powerloader, which was the device from Aliens that could be worn to assist with construction in space, but was actually used when fighting the Xenomorphs…   Although rather than the one from the film, this one made at home in Germany by a fan for a local carnival.  It appears to be quite a feat of home engineering.

The description on YouTube mentions that the arms and legs are full moveable and the top-light and LED were powered by a 12 Volt battery pack, which is inside the backpack.  There suit comes complete with a Bluetooth boombox so that you can have your choice of your favourite tunes, or if you prefer, appropriate mechanical sounds to emulate that of a sci-fi robot.

It is certainly memorable.  I’m not sure that I will be building my own Caterpillar P5000 Powerloader any time soon, and if I did, whether I could achieve it in the 100 hours which it apparently took the creator to complete this.

I do like the section near the end of the video when it is waving at cars passing by.  No doubt that resulted in a few double takes from motorists…
