The visit to Leicestershire for the British GT series included the Ginetta GT5 Challenge Donington Rounds 2017 with the final three races deciding the championship over the weekend. Wet qualifying saw a mixed up grid with Max Bird, Ryan Hadfield, Rob Boston, Carlito Miracco and Lewis Brown making up the top five for what looked like being a very interesting first race of the weekend. However a red flag after three laps saw a premature end to the race, and a smash that saw Rob Boston heading off to the medical centre. The three laps were enough for some on track action though, and the podium was made up of Brown, Hadfield and Bird.
The second race on Sunday morning saw another win from Brown this time with Oliver Wilkinson and Matt Palmer joining him on the grid. The third race was again to be cut short by a red flag, and this time it was Hadfield who took the chequered flag ahead of Bird and Brown, and a special mention to Miracco who made his way from twentieth on the grid to tenth in the race in the six laps that happened.
The final races saw Lewis Brown, who had taken third place in the Ginetta Junior championship in 2016, crowned 2017 Ginetta GT5 Challenge champion. Congratulations to Lewis, and here are a few photos from the weekend.
