Last weekend’s British GT event included an appearance for Formula Jedi 2015 at Donington Park. The exciting single seater series was one of a number of support races, and included two races over the course of the weekend. This year’s season has three clear title contenders, in Ben Hingeley, Lee Morgan and Michael Watton, who between them have remarkably taken all of the wins from the 23 drivers who have appeared in the championship across the ten races before Donington.
The first race of the weekend saw Hingeley quickly pull a lead on his rivals, which was lost when the safety car was deployed. Hingeley managed to retain his lead, with Watton leading Morgan for second. On the last lap, Watton ran wide, and dropped down to fifth, damaging his title hopes.
The second race saw a tight scrap between Hingeley and Morgan, with Watton spinning out on the first lap. Hingeley seemed to have the advantage through most of the race until a mistake on the last lap saw Morgan pass him, meaning that the leading two in the table managed to take one win and one second place each. With two races left to go at Silverstone, Michael Watton now trails Ben Hingeley, who tops the table, by 44 points in a series where a win provides thirty points. Michael Watton is going to need as much good luck as he had bad this time at the last race weekend of the series at Silverstone.
