Yesterday saw the BTCC Media Launch 2016 at Donington Park, with the teams and drivers on display not just for the media but fans who made their way along to the Leicestershire circuit. I popped along to see what was going on, and it was a busy event with a long queue to get in even before the gates opened. The series is increasing in popularity at the moment, and there were plenty of announcements to get the crowds excited. New drivers include the 2015 Clio Cup champion Ashley Sutton, and Kelvin Fletcher who will be balancing his driving career alongside acting in the soap opera Emmerdale. Halfords return to the series with Team Dynamics becoming Halfords Yuasa Racing and the familiar orange branding making a welcome return. Team BMR have changed their car for the season from a Volkswagen CC to a Subaru Levorg Sports Tourer, with manufacturer support from Subaru, with a driver line up including former champions Colin Tarkington and Jason Plato. There are plenty of other changes for the season, which should be another interesting and exciting year for British Touring Cars.
The season kicks off on 3rd April at Brands Hatch before returning to Donington Park two weeks later, making its way around the circuits of the UK before a return to Brands Hatch for the final rounds on 2nd October.
Here are a few photos from the launch.
