It’s the BTCC Media Day 2017 at Donington Park with the ever popular British Touring Car Championship cars and drivers making their first public appearance of the season.
The event sees a series of media sessions in the morning including driver interviews and the presentation of the cars, followed by a public access test in the afternoon. In recent years has been incredibly popular, particularly given that this is a mid week event, and 2017 was no different with the venue’s car parks looking busier than for some race weekends.
Here are some photos of the day, both the morning media session and the afternoon test, where the drivers had their first chance to set lap times against each other. The new regulations for this year, including the new tyre sizes, mean that we should see faster lap times this year than in 2016.
The season starts next month with the first race weekend on the 2nd and 3rd of April at Brands Hatch, as Team Halfords’ Gordon “Flash” Shedden starts the defense of his championship. It should be another fantastic championship – aren’t they always in BTCC? – with plenty of new drivers joining those who have been on the grid for some time.
