MSA Formula Donington 2016

MSA Formula 2016 at Donington

The weekend’s BTCC event saw a support calendar that included the opportunity to see MSA Formula 2016 at Donington Park, as the FIA Formula Four event included three races. I’m a big fan of Formula Four as there is normally high quality and close racing making for an exciting watch. This weekend was no different. The drivers had some time to get used to the track, with a test session earlier in the week.

Saturday’s qualifying saw series newcomer Alex Quinn put his car on pole followed by Luis Leeds and Max Fewtrell. The first race on Saturday was preceeded by a hail storm that meant a wet track. Alex Quinn managed to lead from pole to the chequered flag, with the top three qualifiers keeping their places for the podium.

The second race, on a sunnier Sunday, saw Sennan Fielding again lead from pole in an incident filled race to take the win, with Petru Florescu in second and Max Fewtrell in third place again.

The final MSA Formula race of the weekend again saw a good result with the pole sitter, Max Fewtrell, taking the chequered flag ahead of Luis Leeds and Ross Martin.

The weekend puts Max Fretwell in the lead of the championship after his three podiums of the weekend, ahead of Petru Florescu who had led the series after the first weekend, who is tied on points with Sennan Fielding after this second win of the year.

Here are a few photos from the weekend.
